The Annenberg Foundation provided free leadership training to the 2013 CNN Top 10 Heroes followed by a reception with inspiring guest speaker, former NASA astronaut, John Daniel "Danny" Olivas and surprised all of the heros with an additional grant to help their causes move forward.
"In October 2013, The Annenberg Foundation announced plans to continue its partnership with CNN to provide free professional development and nonprofit training to the 2013 Top 10 CNN Heroes and a select number of CNN Heroes from past years through its Annenberg Alchemy program.
CNN Heroes honors individuals who are making extraordinary contributions to help improve the lives of others. Since its inception, CNN Heroes has received over 50,000 submissions from more than 100 countries and profiled over 200 heroes.
As part of this year’s CNN Heroes prize package, the Annenberg Foundation will provide organizational training through a customized version of the Annenberg Alchemy program. Designed to help CNN Heroes strengthen their abilities to manage and build upon the opportunities and resources awarded to them by CNN, Annenberg Alchemy will offer the Heroes practical guidance on how to be competitive with fundraising, communicate effectively, build and keep a strong board of directors, manage volunteers and more.
The Annenberg Foundation’s support of CNN Heroes is a philanthropic expression of gratitude to these men and women who share a common mission with each other and the Foundation--to improve the community and overall public well-being."
